Fumette

Description

Fumette is the younger sister of our Pouilly Fumé and is also grown in the hamlet of La Roche (meaning "the Rock"). Of the two vineyard parcels situated in Tracy-sur Loire, next to the Loire River, we have a parcel named Les Froids, which is on the fault line of the old Flint quarry and the old bed of the Loire River. Fumette grows on ancient Flint and sand-rich soils, which gives us more generous fruit expression whilst retaining the characteristic minerality of Pouilly Fumé.

Winemaking

Selection of grapes from a specific section in one of our blocks in order to get more fruit and citrus taste in this cuvée. Grapes are pressed and the heart of juice is kept to retain the acidity. We cold settle overnight in stainless steel tank and rack the following day. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel at slightly cooler temperatures to keep more fruit aromas and retain freshness.

Tasting

On the nose, you might find aromas of citrus fruit, ripe pears, and peach. The palate is well-balanced, fruitful, and juicy, with a long lingering finish.
